My Dropout Story: From healthcare to community care

I started my career in corporate after working for several years at a multi-location family-owned restaurant, working my way from server to barista to coordinator of opening new stores, to shift leader, and eventually to general manager of a single location. While this environment fueled me for 8 years, it was time for a change.
I shifted into a career in healthcare where my days were spent onboarding new hires through a program I had a part in creating as a consultant. The long days were worth it because of the impact I was having on over 500 new hires each and every week. I was graced with the opportunity to work with current staff, having them support my program, and getting to know C-Suite level executives, engaging new hires and current staff alike in their positions.
Then the pandemic hit.
My highly engaging, 8-hour program was forced to shift online, eliminating the interpersonal connections I craved so much. After 2 years of my job being virtual, I learned that this position may never go back in-person and, by then, I had lost my sense of purpose. I was no longer making the impact that I wanted and had already found myself with another part-time job locally supporting a family-owned coffee company in their newly established media and marketing department.
Working with this coffee brand taught me everything I needed to know about making an impact and supporting small businesses. I had the opportunity to write a newsletter that attracted large audiences and reached nearly 100 of our wholesalers. I was lauded as the Director of Media, focusing on executing marking campaigns and all things related to copywriting. Soon after that, a friend of mine started her own marketing company and I became the lead copywriter for the clients of her organization. Working with women-owned businesses fueled me and taught me that supporting small businesses is what I am truly passionate about.
Which brings me to today. I am the proud owner of my own copywriting business, supporting small businesses across the country with their digital marketing and copywriting needs. I am honored to work with ACD and all of the clients we serve, growing businesses to local and national recognition.
