What's a Small Business to do about Black Friday?

So you’re a business owner and you haven’t decided what to do about Black Friday deals. Black Friday and Small Business Saturday are already next week and you haven’t posted about any discounts yet, and you don’t want to miss the mark on the biggest sale weekend of the season.
Here’s what to do.
Don’t stress yourself out. Not all businesses are meant to have Black Friday deals. If you’re a service based business or a product based business, your customers expect different things from you. If you are a product-based business and have an overstock of inventory, a Black Friday sale may align with your revenue goals. If you’re a luxury brand focused on quality products or services over quantity of sales, you may not need to run toward a discount.
Use this as an opportunity to start thinking ahead. What New Year deals can you offer for the month of January? Is there a summer blow out sale you can run? What does your next Black Friday look like? If you haven’t created anticipation or promotion yet, don’t rush yourself to come up with a deal that may actually be bad for your business.
Why ACD is skipping Black Friday
To start, it is incredibly rare that we discount our services anyway. At ACD, we are always focused on providing the highest quality of services that provide a lot of value to your brand. We have a highly skilled team of professionals who deserve to be well compensated for the quality of work they bring to our team. Heavy discounts provide fewer resources for us to do the work that we do. Our pricing allows us to respect our own brand values of compensating our team appropriately for the work they provide, the same way we value what our clients offer and don’t always suggest discounting prices just to get a quick sale. We are proud of the service we provide, and by skipping Black Friday, we can focus on supporting small businesses this holiday season rather than encouraging a panic purchase in this world of overconsumption.
Instead, we encourage you to find small businesses in your network and consider supporting them. This season, and every season, we are thrilled by the opportunity to support our clients in their decisions, no matter what they may be, and we look forward to finding the right ways to promote and market your business together!
